    Tai Chi as an Exercise
  • In this low-impact, slow-motion exercise, you go without pausing through a series of motions named for animal actions — for example, "white crane spreads its wings" — or martial arts moves, such as "box both ears." As you move, you breathe deeply and naturally, focusing your attention in the moment. The movements are usually circular and never forced, the muscles are relaxed rather than tensed, the joints are not fully extended or bent, and connective tissues are not stretched. Tai chi can be easily adapted for anyone, from fit people, in wheelchairs or recovering from surgery.

What is Qigong

  • The term “Qigong” is a combination of two words: "Qi," which means “breath” or “vital energy,” and "gong," which translates to “skill cultivated through steady practice. These words describe an age-old practice that harnesses the power of breath, movement, and intention setting to create body health and balance.
As a foundational component of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Qigong dates back thousands of years and was first documented in Daoist (Taoist) writings around A.D. 600, though the term “qigong” we use today wasn’t formalized until the 1950s.
  • Qigong is an ancient practice before writing exist, so throughout the history have received many names base on the translation: best known as "Chi Kung" Also in Chinese dynasties: Xiu Lian (Cultivate and refine), Tuna (Spit and absorbed), Xing Qi (assist the Chi flow) and Daoyin (Guide the vital energy "Chi", stretch the 4 limbs to harmonized the body, the breath and the mind)

Most forms of Qigong originated from Daoist practices focused on cultivating longevity. The movements, postures, acupuncture points and  breath work  was created through observation of nature. That is the reason Qigong forms imitated animals and nature movements to prevent and cure illnesses, and providing longevity, by precise stretching and breathing exercises.
